As global interest in ESG investing grows, supervisory authorities in Hong Kong have introduced relevant guidelines to promote compliance with ESG standards. Investors and stakeholders now attach an increasing importance to the impact of ESG performance on enterprises’ credit worthiness, operation and risks management.
In December 2019, the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong announced amendments to the existing “Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Reporting Guide (ESG Guide) and Related Listing Rules,” to include significant improvements to the ESG governance and disclosure framework for Hong Kong-listed companies. Effective from 1 July 2020, key changes to the ESG Guide include requiring mandatory disclosure of the board’s oversight of the company’s ESG matters; amending the “Environmental” key performance indicators (KPIs) to require disclosure of relevant targets; requiring disclosure of significant climate-related issues; and upgrading the disclosure obligation of all “Social” KPIs to “comply or explain”.

This year we join hands again with Deloitte in presenting the second year of ESG Leading Enterprise Awards. The event aims at recognizing exemplary enterprises which excel in incorporating ESG goals and activities in their development strategies with outstanding business performance and growth.
隨著 ESG 投資成為全球主流議題，香港各監管機構推出相應條例及指引加以推動，市場與投資者愈趨關注 ESG 對企業的聲譽、表現及風險管理的影響。
而香港交易所於2019年底再度修訂《環境（Environmental）、社會（Social）及管治（Governance） 報告指引》（簡稱ESG指引）及相關《上市規則》條文，進一步提升香港上市公司在ESG方面的管治及披露水平，修訂條文於今年7月1日起生效。是次主要修訂包括針對董事會在ESG方面的參與、要求企業設立環保目標、規定須匯報有關影響氣候變化的訊息，及修訂社會關鍵績效指標並將其披露責任提升等。
作為區內具國際視野及影響力的財經雜誌，《彭博商業周刊/中文版》一直重點關注 ESG 對企業帶來的挑戰與機遇，今年將再度與德勤攜手舉辦第二屆「ESG 領先企業大奬」，讓公眾認識在可持續發展、社會共融及環境保護有出色表現的香港上市企業，表揚各企業在追求業務增長的同時，實踐配合社會整體發展利益所作出的貢獻。

The Awards comprises two categories including the “ESG Leading Enterprise Awards” and the “Leading ESG Initiative Awards”. Hong Kong listed companies may submit entries to multiple categories. All applications with category/ies specified and supporting documents must be submitted on or before the deadline.
評選活動共設「 ESG 領先企業」及 「ESG 領先項目」兩個奬項類別，香港上市公司可參加多於一項奬項類別，提交報名表格時應列明參選類別並於指定日期內遞交相關資料。
ESG Leading Enterprise Awards
Participating enterprises from each sector are divided into two categories according to their market capitalization^. Enterprises with the best ESG performance in its industry will be accredited.
Category I: Market capitalization over HK$20 billion
Category II: Market capitalization below HK$20 billion^As at the company’s recent financial year-end date.
